Hi Guys!! I am taking Ghoulies, Ghosties and Long Legged Besties: Why we Like to Be Scared.I think taking an online course is very cool. There's not a whole lot of extra work and you get to meet new people. Even though we had to write a couple of essays in the last 8 weeks, we usually got 1 week or 2 to write them. It's a writing course, but it has a scary theme so that made it very interesting! We usually post the essays to a blog so others can read and give us advice! I think VHS is a great way to do work outside of regular couses and have definitely helped me with my writing. I hope I can take VHS again.

This is my first year of VHS and I'm almost half way through! The course I'm taking is American Popular Music. So far I've learned about Jazz, Folk, Rock -n- Roll and all types of music. This course also has a good amount of work, so I don't have to worry about late assignments. This is a very fun course and I strongly recommend taking VHS. It's very fun and helps you develop skills while having to write things such as discussion messages and dropbox! Even if you don't take American Popular Music, any VHS course will be very fun!!

Hi! I am Maggie and I am taking History and American Popular Music. This course studies music throughout the 20th centuries. I have done an interview with people that lived in the 1950’s, essays on surfing music, and seven paragraph research essays for each decade that we studied. This is a very challenging course and there is a LOT of writing. This is mostly a writing course, but it is very fun. This class also takes a lot of time, and it was a bit of a challenge for me because last year, I never had any homework. Overall, I have learned a lot from this course, and this will help me in history classes in the future because I learned so much about history in this class. I would recommend this class to anyone learning about history’s effect on music, but only if you are willing to devote a lot of time to it.

Hello, my name is Amanda and I am taking Creating Art History! Creating Art History allows you to create art while learning about theme and technique. So far we have worked on self portraits, still lifes and right now we are studying the theme of simplicity. Along with creating art you get to view art online, which is my favorite type of activity we are given. A lot of the work we have to do in this course involves writing comments about our work and other's. It is truly a great course that is worthwhile even if you are not the best artist. Overall I have had a great V.H.S. experience. It's great to expand your horizons and learn about things that you wouldn't normally learn in school. I hope many more students consider taking a V.H.S. course because you can learn a lot and have a great time.

Hi! I'm taking the Great inventions and scientific discoveries coarse and so far we have done one different scientist every week, we have studied Newton, Marie Curie, Gregor Mendel, Rachel Carson, Charles Darwin, and Louis Pasteur. Each of these scientists have contributed greatly to our world. Each week we have had some type of writing assignment on the scientist of the week. All of these scientists are very interesting. I'm loving my VHS coarse!

Hey everyone! I am taking the Psychology 1 course on VHS. The first VHS semester has gone great!! I like working online because VHS is a comfortable environment. I have learned everything from the six schools of psychology to how humans think. Having so much to learn about each topic means extra work to do. This work takes up a lot of my free time, but it's worth it. I have learned a lot of interesting facts, met people I never would have met otherwise, and developed skills that will help me in the future. In addition, VHS has greatly enhanced my writing. I would recommend taking VHS to most people because it helps you to learn how to organize your to time and it can be fun at the same time!

My name is Erin and the class I’m taking is Web Design and Internet Research. Compared to the classes I have normally this year, the amount of work in this course has been on the lower level. We have about 7 assignments every week that consist of either tutorial lessons or 1-3 paragraph responses. With the work in this class my time management has been very easy. I have had a fairly easy time completing the work on top of my school work.

Hey everyone! My name is Kailyn McCourt and I am taking Creating Art History along with multiple other students in this school. Creating Art History allows you to explore all different kinds of art and techniques. I have learned a lot about art that I may not have ever known. I really enjoy that you don't have to be a fantastic art student to take this course, you only really have to love art. I was extremely excited to take my first VHS course. The past weeks have been a great experience. It does take up a lot of time in my day but it is truly worth it. My knowledge of art has developed. To anyone considering taking VHS next semester, I would definitely recommend them to do so. It really helps you grow more as a student while at the same time, you get to do something you love.

Hi! My name is Terren and I am taking a career awareness course! I find VHS to be a great experience! I like the course I am taking because I know that no matter what career field I participate in I will use this information. I also like it because I have met a lot of people who share my interests and learned a lot about myself. The course I am taking is not the only thing I like about VHS. I also enjoy working in the library for the period I am given to work on my VHS assignments. Working in the library is very peaceful and it's not very loud. Sure you can talk to your friends, but it isn't like the noisy setting of the classroom where you can't hear yourself think. I believe that getting work done is a lot easier in a quiet environment and I definitely love being able to work in the library. I am absolutely glad I applied to VHS, it has been such a wonderful experience and I hope all of the children that are given this opportunity take advantage of it!

Hi! I am taking Creating Art History. So far this class is going great! I can’t believe it is week 9 already! I am in this class with Kailyn, Amanda and Amy. It is really nice having other people in LMS taking the same course as I am. This way, we can ask each other questions if necessary. This class is very interesting and fun to be a part of. We get to create art of our own while learning about other artists. Each couple weeks a new theme is introduced and we get to create a piece of art based on that theme. This week’s theme is Simplicity. We get to pick one object with meaning, magnify it and then finish it with charcoal. Even though this is an art course, it involves writing called idea statements that we make alongside each major piece of art work. I love making idea statements because it really gets you thinking about the object/object’s meaning, the meaning of the theme and how the object/piece of art you created relates to the specific theme. This is my second VHS course. The first time I took Introduction to Environmental Science. I have to say, I liked that course better although as time progresses, I am beginning to like this class more and more. In conclusion, anyone who likes art or is interested in art should look into this class!!

Hey everyone its Amy! I have to say that so far I am enjoying my course, Creating Art History! It is a very interesting course in which we research different themes and how artists have interpreted them as well as interpret and create out our work. So far I have worked with the themes of Self-Portrait, Protest and Conflict, and this week we have started Simplicity. In each week I find it very cool to see what different artists from different time periods have created! All the ideas are so varied and absolutely captivating. I love to see how they end up affecting my work when I have to explain my thoughts and ideas in my idea statements (paragraphs) for the work that I post. This course does give me a good amount of work, but if I focus it is not too overwhelming and very fun. I am a band kid, so I see this as a great opportunity to have an art class. Also, the VHS environment is very relaxed and fun. We meet each day in the library and get to do our work. We are not totally silent and do allow the flow of thoughts, and ideas (and laughs) when necessary. Although, I somewhat miss working in the computer lab like I did when I took my course last year, I love VHS and find it to be a rewarding experience that broadens my educational horizons.

Hey guys! My name is Ava and I’m taking Biology. I can hardy believe 9 weeks already flew by! I am loving my course so far! It’s very interesting. Basically, we explore topics that have to do with biology and the human body. It’s extremely in depth, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing! Right now we are on the topic of cells, and observing all their structures and functions. I am loving this topic most of all! It’s awesome to take a close look at how our body functions. I am so glad I decided to take VHS this year! This is my first time taking a course, so I wasn’t completely sure if I wanted to. But, it’s been a blast! I love the fact how we are taking a class with kids all over the world! I love the VHS program and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about taking it. Trust me, it will be worth your time and effort!
